The Most Expensive Home in Vero Beach, Florida, Asks $29.5 Million

A grand beachfront mansion in Vero Beach, Florida, has hit the market for $29.5 million, making it the most expensive home for the island city , whichi is situated between the Atlantic Ocean and the Indian River Lagoon about 80 miles north of Palm Beach.

Built in 1992, the residence has 11,581 square feet of livable space with six bedrooms and eight bathrooms, plus double-height water-facing living and dining rooms, according to the listing with Cindy O’Dare with ONE Sotheby’s International Realty posted Thursday.

There is also a large kitchen, a great room, a library, a study, a bar and a game room, all of which feature luxury finishes, including imported marbles and mahogany wood, the listing said.

The mansion’s exterior blends Mediterranean and Georgian styles, featuring concrete columns, a red roof, curved glass windows and wrapped-around terraces. The landscaped grounds also have an oceanside infinity pool and a four-car garage, according to the listing.

“The mansion is dramatically perched on approximately three acres with more than 325 feet of Atlantic Ocean beach frontage,” Ms. O’Dare said. “It’s rare to have a property this scale and caliber.”

The most recent owner passed away last September, and his estate is selling the property. The family purchased the home in 1996 from the original owner, a power couple in the publishing business, property records show.

Vero Beach is known as “The Hamptons of Florida,” Ms. O’Dare said, priding itself in its natural beauty, art scenes and strict zoning laws to prevent overdevelopment. “Vero Beach is constantly ranked one of the top 10 most beautiful beach towns in the U.S. and has one of the highest per-capita income in the country,” she said.

The home is currently the highest priced listing in the Multiple Listing Service. The second most expensive residence is a 2.36-acre oceanfront compound with 216 feet of beach frontage, listed by Ms. O’Dare for $27 million last December.

Once a hidden gem, Vero Beach has attracted more affluent buyers—who traditionally look to move to Miami and Palm Beach—during the pandemic. In November 2021, a 5-acre ocean to river estate, also represented by Ms. O’Dare, sold for $27 million, making it  the most expensive home ever sold in Vero Beach. 2021.

Last May, a peninsula-like estate with 556 feet of water frontage sold for $20 million last May, the highest price for a riverfront home, Mansion Global previously reported.
