Luis Suárez to choose between MLS and Liga MX

Luis Suárez had a discrete participation at the 2022 FIFA World Cup with only one assist in three appearances in Qatar, where he played twice from the start and once as a substitute. The 35-year-old couldn’t help Uruguay make it past the group stages.

Suárez to decide his future in January

Now the former FC Barcelona striker will take some time off to decide where he will continue his playing career at club level since parting ways with Uruguayan side Nacional prior to the start of the World Cup. Suárez has several options on the table, but his next team will be in Major League Soccer or Liga MX.

According to the journalist Federico Buysan, two Mexican clubs are making a push to sign Suárez during the January transfer market and Cruz Azul is one of them. Per the report, he is keen on playing in Liga MX and the capital-based team is trying to close the deal as soon as possible.

The other option for the Uruguayan is to play in Major League Soccer and his two suitors are Inter Miami CF and the Los Angeles Galaxy. A source from AS USA confirmed that Suárez’s agent sat down with the people in charge at the Galaxy during the summer to talk about the arrival of the striker for the 2023 MLS campaign.

Per the source, Suárez liked the proposal from the Galaxy and his intention was to live in Los Angeles and play in MLS. If the team with the most league titles (5) reaches an agreement with the player, they will most likely have to pay Inter Miami a fee since the David-Beckham owned team has the veteran on their discovery list.
