DePaul to Meet Miami at Wintrust Arena


CHICAGO – DePaul women’s basketball returns to the court on Sunday, Nov. 20 when Miami (Fl.) visits Wintrust Arena for a non-conference clash. Tipoff is slated for 4 p.m. with coverage on FloHoops and tickets available here.
 
Demon Doings:
DePaul (1-2) is looking to rebound after a two-game skid by a combined margin of 14 points. In Tuesday’s setback to Cleveland State, sophomore forward Aneesah Morrow tallied 42 points to match the program’s record for points in a single game while grabbing 15 rebounds for the 29th double-double of her career.
 
Junior guard Darrione Rogers joins Morrow in double figures with an average of 17.0 points through the first three games. Against the Vikings, Rogers dished out a career-best 10 assists.Anaya Peoples and Kendall Holmes are averaging, 9.0 and 8.0 points respectively.
 
Head Coach Doug Bruno is in his 37th season and is 759-370 in his time with the Blue Demons.
 
Hurricane Hits:
Miami is 4-0 heading into Sunday’s matchup with all four wins coming at home with an average margin of victory of 31 points.
 
Texas transfer Latasha Lattimore leads four ‘Canes in double figures with 11.3 points per game and 4.5 rebounds per game.  Fresno State transfer Haley Cavinder is averaging 10.8 points and leads the team with nine three-point field goals. 6-4 freshman forward Lazaria Spearman has crashed the board in the early going, hauling in 6.5 rebounds per game.
 
Katie Meier, in her 18th season at the helm, returns nine letterwinners from a Miami team that went to the second round of the NCAA Tournament a season ago while welcoming five newcomers including three transfers and a pair of freshmen.
 
Series Stuff:
The two programs have met just once prior to Sunday’s meeting with the Blue Demons picking up an 89-83 victory on Nov. 23, 2019 in the Maggie Dixon Classic at McGrath-Phillips Arena. Chante Stonewall recorded 27 points to lead four Blue Demons in double figures.
 
Up Next: DePaul will travel south to Florida for the Elevance Health Fort Myers Tip-Off, Nov. 25-27, hosted at Suncoast Credit Union Arena. The Blue Demons will face No. 19 Maryland on Friday, Nov. 25 before a national television audience on FS2. Saturday and Sunday will see DePaul meet Pittsburgh and Towson.
