Miami football leads after 4-star CB Damari Brown releases top 4

The Miami football team is leading in projections for four-star cornerback Damari Brown after he dropped his top four on Wednesday night. Brown is the 180th-ranked player, 24th CB and 45th in Florida in the Class of 2023. Alabama, Clemson and Florida State are the other three programs named in Brown’s top four.

Miami currently has five-star Cormani McClain and four-star Robert Stafford committed at CB for 2023. McClain committed last week moving the 2023 Miami class up to eighth. A commitment from Brown would move Miami closer to but not past LSU who is seventh in the 2023 rankings.

Gaby Urrutia of Inside the U is the only 247 analyst who has logged a crystal ball for Brown. Consensus projections have Brown to Miami. The On3 recruiting prediction machine projects the Miami football program with a 90.3 percent chance to receive a commitment from Brown.

Rivals projects Miami at 100 percent for a prediction from Brown. Brown, McClain and Stafford would give Miami an elite group of CBs in the Class of 2023. Brown is taking his official visit to Miami this weekend for the Florida State game. Brown will have an opportunity to watch half of his top four in person.

“Miami is the hometown team…They have been keeping the foot on the pedal any way they can. Every day they hit me up, just anything to show consistent love. This is another place that I could come in and contribute early, as they are losing a lot of DBs as well. Miami feels like they can add me alongside Cormani McClain and can do damage and lock up the whole country.”

Hayes Fawcett of On3 quoted Brown above about his recruitment with Miami. No commitment date has been set by Brown. The early national signing period for football is from December 21 through the 23 for 2023 football signees. D.J. Ivey is the only senior CB on the 2022 Miami football roster.

Miami could lose some CBs to the transfer portal. Inconsistent play at CB should create opportunities for CBs to play immediately in 2023. In addition to McClain and Stafford, four-star defensive back Antione Jackson who is projected at CB or safety depending on the site reclassified from 2024 to 2023.
