One of the interesting developments in college football over the past handful of years is the impact the wide receiver position has on teams competing for and winning championships.

Look at the programs that have competed in the National Championship over the past four seasons (and the receivers that played for those teams):

– 2021: Georgia vs. Alabama: Jameson Williams and John Metchie.

– 2020: Alabama vs. Ohio State: DeVonta Smith, John Metchie, Jaylen Waddle, Chris Olave, Garrett Wilson, and Jameson Williams.

– 2019: LSU vs. Clemson: Ja’Marr Chase, Justin Jefferson, Tee Higgins, Justyn Ross, and Amari Rodgers.

– 2018: Clemson vs. Alabama: Jerry Jeudy, Jaylen Waddle, Henry Ruggs, DeVonta Smith, Justyn Ross, Tee Higgins, Amari Rodgers, and Hunter Renfrow.

With the exception of the 2021 Georgia team, all of these teams had dynamic receiver play at the college level.

Winning on the outside is a priority when it comes to competing for championships and the Hurricanes are effecting to land dynamic playmakers at receiver in this recruiting class.

The ability to turn a short pass into an explosive gain is rare and both UM commits at wide receiver, Nathaniel Joseph and Robby Washington, can generate those type of electric plays while also flashing the ability to make plays downfield.

Miami is not done recruiting the receiver position with those two. The Hurricanes would like to add at least one more premier receiver that can make plays on the outside with UM still chasing committed prospects like five-star Ohio State commit Brandon Inniss, five-star Florida State commit Hykeem Williams, four-star LSU commit Jalen Brown, four-star Wake Forest commit Micah Mays, and four-star receiver prospect from California, Taeshaun Lyons.

The Hurricanes have a good, solid wide receiver haul at this stage. They will look to make it an elite haul by closing strong.
