BLACKSBURG – Virginia Tech football’s P.J. Prioleau will don the No. 25 jersey on Saturday versus Miami (Fla.), after he was told in a team meeting Thursday afternoon.

Prioleau will wear the iconic number for the first time of his career, marking the fourth Hokie this season to rock it for the first time (Ny’Quee Hawkins, Peter Moore, Nasir Peoples).

“I’m thankful to the coaching staff for allowing me to wear No. 25 this week,” Prioleau said. “My dad went to Beamerball and I know it means a lot to Hokie Nation. So, I’m thankful to wear No. 25 against Miami.”

Prioleau is coming off of an outing in which he had a blocked punt at Pitt, which turned into a score for the Hokies, as his teammate Nyke Johnson fell on the ball in the end zone for a touchdown. Prioleau also fielded a punt return for 15 yards.

Tech retired Frank Beamer’s No. 25 jersey in 2002, and since the start of the 2016 season, the Hokies have been paying homage to Tech’s legacy of excellence on special teams by selecting a different special teams athlete each week to wear the honorary Beamer 25 jersey. For more information on who has worn it in the past.
