Justin Stupka Commits to the University of Miami

October 2, 2022 – United States Hockey League (USHL) – Omaha Lancers News Release

OMAHA, NE. – Lancers’ Forward, Justin Stupka (2005) has announced his commitment to play Division I College Hockey at the University of Miami to represent the RedHawks.

Stupka was acquired by the Lancers back on July 23rd, 2022, in a large trade deal with the Youngstown Phantoms. Within that trade, the Lancers also received Forward, Charlie Lurie and the following draft picks:

-2023 Phase 1, 8th Round

-2023 Phase 2, 10th Round

-2024 Phase 2, 6th Round

In the process, the Lancers handed the Phantoms the following draft picks:

-2023 Phase 1, 4th Round

-2023 Phase 2, 3rd Round

-2024 Phase 1, 2nd Round

-2024 Phase 2, 2nd Round

-2024 Phase 2, 8th Round

The young forward came to Omaha with only three United States Hockey League games under his belt in Youngstown. Picking up two points (1G-1A-2P) in that short stretch.

His USHL debut was made on January 7th, 2022, in a 3-1 home win over the Cedar Rapids RoughRiders, with the other two happening in the final two regular season games in a split home-and-home series with Team USA.

Prior to his time with the Phantoms, Stupka had a stellar 2021-22 season with the Pittsburgh Penguins Elite 16U team where he accumulated 80 points (34G-46A-80P) in 79 games played.

The Miami Commit does not have much of a history with the Lancers yet as he has only skated in one regular season game so far, a 3-0 shutout victory over the Dubuque Fighting Saints at the 2022 Fall Classic just a week ago.

“I would like to thank my Mom and Dad for the endless support and sacrifice. I chose Miami because I instantly had a connection with the coaches and its beautiful campus that loves hockey. They are also giving me the opportunity to play baseball. I knew it was the right fit for me and I am extremely excited about my decision.” – Lancers Forward & Miami University Commit, Justin Stupka
