How to Watch the Seattle Sounders vs. Cincinnati FC – MLS (9/27/22) | Channel, Stream. Preview
With just a few matches left in the regular season, two teams trying to keep their playoff hopes alive meet Tuesday night in Washington state, as the Seattle Sounders get set to play host to Cincinnati FC.
Coming into Tuesday, Cincinnati holds a three-point cushion in a playoff spot. With matches in hand, they stand tied for fifth in the Eastern Conference with Orlando City, each with 45 points, three clear of both Inter Miami and the Columbus Crew who are battling it out for the last playoff spot in the conference. They have been on a solid run as of late, having not lost in their last 10 matches, going 4-0-6 during that span, including wins over the San Jose Earthquakes and Real Salt Lake in their last two matches. Offensively, they have been led by Brandon Vazquez. The Californian is tied for sixth in the league in goals, finding the back of the net 16 times thus far.
Seattle cannot afford to drop points at this stage of the season. With a match in hand on most of the Western Conference, they sit six points back of the seventh-placed Minnesota United, with just two matches remaining after Tuesday night. They had won back-to-back matches prior to losing to the Vancouver Whitecaps in their last regular season match 10 days ago. A loss to Cincy would almost make it impossible for the Sounders to make it to the playoffs, marking the first time since the club joined the MLS that Seattle would miss the playoffs.
This will be the first time that the two clubs have met since Cincinnati’s inaugural match in MLS, where the Sounders won 4-1 in March 2019.
