Cormani McClain, nation’s top uncommitted prospect, registers interception wearing Miami Hurricanes gear
Maybe it’s a good sign for the Miami Hurricanes.
On Friday night, Lakeland High School (Florida) cornerback consensus five-star prospect Cormani McClain was spotted wearing Miami gloves and a sleeve.
During the game, the nation’s No. 3 overall prospect delivered a big-time interception on.a pass intended for Florida pledge Ja’Keem Jackson:
McClain is the top uncommitted prospect in the country and has an official visit to set to Alabama on October 7.
Florida and Miami are two other programs that have been widely linked to the nation’s top cornerback.
So, between the Miami gloves and a big interception over a future Florida Gators player, perhaps Miami fans will view it as an omen.
Mario Cristobal and his coaching staff certainly hope so.
Here’s what 247Sports had to say, in part, about McClain as a prospect:
“A new-age cornerback prospect that almost looks like he was made in some type of create-a-player mode given his length, foot speed, ball skills, instincts and competitive drive. Initially started high school career off as a wide receiver before being thrust into action on the defensive side of the ball due to injury. Excelled right away at his new position totaling nine interceptions as a sophomore and then 10 more as a junior. Extremely advanced from a technical standpoint for someone that grew up primarily playing offense. Doesn’t take many, if any, false steps while in reverse and always looks to be in complete control of his body. Likes to click his feet as he gains depth and does a nice job of keeping his eyes in the backfield. Looser hips allow him to mirror wideouts of all different sizes before he eventually has to turn and open up. Already hand checks like a seasoned vet and will fight through arms to break up a pass. Seems to be comfortable in both press and off-man coverage…”
