Top 100 4-star CB Rodrick Pleasant considering Miami football official visit

Four-star top 100 cornerback Rodrick Pleasant is considering taking an official visit to the Miami football program as reported by Greg Biggins of 247 Sports. The 247 Sports composite rankings have Pleasant as the 93rd ranked player, 10th CB and ninth player in California in the Class of 2022.

Pleasant plays for national power Junipero Serra in Gardena, CA. Four-star athlete Robert Stafford is the only prospect committed to Miami for 2023 who is projected as a CB at the next level. Miami is likely to lose fourth-year junior Tyrique Stevenson to the 2023 NFL Draft. Stevenson has been the best Miami CB the last two years.

USC is the prohibitive favorite for a commitment from Pleasant according to the On3 prediction machine. The Trojans have a 82.1 percent chance for a commitment from Pleasant per On3. Boston College received the first official visit from Pleasant the weekend of June 10. Three more visits are scheduled.

According to On3, Pleasant will visit California and Oregon this fall. Pleasant told Biggins that the Miami football program and Penn State might be his last two visits. Gardena is about 15 miles South of Los Angeles. Pleasant told Biggins he knows he can visit the Bruins and Trojans at any time for an unofficial visit.

“I do like Miami and I’m considering taking an official visit…I have two left right now. I’ve already been to Boston College and I have trips set with Cal and Oregon…I know I can visit USC and UCLA any time and take an unofficial visit there. So my last two official trips might be to Penn State and Miami.

It’s nothing official yet but that’s what I’m thinking of doing right now…Penn State really wants to be the last school I visit…So that would be in December or January since I’m not an early graduate and won’t be signing early in December.”

Four-star quarterback Jaden Rashada is the only 2023 Miami football commitment has from California. Edge rusher Jayden Wayne, Offensive tackle Francis Mauigoa and tight end Riley Williams are originally from the west coast but are now at IMG Academy in Bradenton. Miami has always recruited the West coast well.

San Diego native Key’Shawn Smith is in his second year as a Miami starting wide receiver as the sole player from California currently on the Hurricanes’ roster. Pleasant is also an elite sprinter setting junior records in California with a 10.14 100 meters and 20.40 200 meters. Pleasant plans on being a two sport athlete in college.

Biggins reported that Pleasant has four interceptions in the first four games this season with pick six called back. Pleasant is a legacy player at USC. Dominic Davis, Pleasant’s older brother played for the Trojans from 2015 through 2019. Biggins stated that Pleasant has already attended a lot of USC games.
