No. 15 Miami vs. Southern Miss match-up breakdown and predictions

The No. 15 Miami Hurricanes football program will host Southern Miss in the first ever match-up between the two schools on Saturday afternoon at Hard Rock Stadium.

Kickoff is scheduled for noon and the game will be televised on the ACC Network.

Betting lines opened with Miami as a 27 point favorite. The Hurricanes are currently viewed as a 25 point favorite.

Miami (1-0) opened the year with a convincing 70-13 win over FCS opponent Bethune-Cookman last Saturday, making the start of the Mario Cristobal era at UM. The Hurricanes rushed for 305 yards and seven touchdowns in the win.

Southern Miss (0-1) lost their season opener against Liberty in four overtimes, 29-27. Will Hall is in his second season leading the Golden Eagles and has amassed a 3-10 record. Hall arrived at USM as the offensive coordinator at Tulane and previous to that stint he was a head coach at the Division II level, leading West Georgia and West Alabama.

Hall is viewed as one of the top under the radar offensive minds in college football. His early tenure at Southern Miss has been defined by awful luck at quarterback with injuries and that is a storyline going into the Miami game with Ty Keyes in the concussion protocol after taking a vicious hit against Liberty in the second quarter.
