GOL Adds 2 More Routes Connecting Miami To Brazil

The Brazilian carrier GOL Linhas Aéreas has announced two direct routes from Brazil to Miami, starting in December. One of these services is a new route, while the other is a resumption after a two-year hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The new route

Starting on December 17, GOL will begin flying between Manaus International Airport (MAO) and Miami International Airport (MIA). The airline will connect the capital and largest city of the Brazilian state of Amazonas with the United States with two weekly frequencies.

This route is aimed to benefit the people living in the northern regions of Brazil. GOL currently flies to Miami and Orlando from Brazil’s capital city, Brasília. Bruno Balan, GOL’s Strategic Airline Network Planning Manager, said,

“While GOL’s flights to Miami and Orlando from Brasília favor customers on connecting flights coming mainly from Congonhas, Guarulhos, Santos Dumont, RIOgaleão, Salvador, Curitiba, Florianópolis, and Porto Alegre, who can make the entire journey to Florida in a single day, this new route to Miami that begins in December will greatly benefit passengers from the state of Amazonas and neighboring states who fly to the US, as well as Americans and other North American citizens destined to this renowned tourist and business region of the country.”

By launching this new route, GOL is decentralizing its flights to Miami, which will benefit the flow of passengers between the United States and the Amazonas State. The flight will be operated with GOL’s Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft, with a capacity of 176 passengers.

The resuming route

A few days before launching the new route between Manaus and Miami, GOL will resume a different service to Miami from Fortaleza International Airport (FOR). On December 3, the Brazilian airline will begin offering one weekly round-trip flight between both cities.

This route was previously operated between November 2018 and the beginning of 2020 but was quickly suspended due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The service will be performed on Saturdays, with flight G3 7904 leaving Fortaleza at 11:00, and arriving in Miami at 16:50. G3 7733 will leave Miami at 21:50 and land in Fortaleza at 6:55 the next day.

The flight will be operated with GOL’s Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft. “The resumption of the Fortaleza-Miami route demonstrates the recovery of international traffic and expands the range of options for passengers from the Brazilian State of Ceará, where Fortaleza is located. We are very pleased with this partnership, which will bring the best airport experience and infrastructure to customers,” says Sabine Trenk, Commercial and Operations Director of Fraport Brazil, administrator of FOR.
