Windows At Miami-Dade’s Nearly 500-Foot Courthouse Tower – The Next Miami

New photos by Kyle Merville give a glimpse at some of the windows and walls at Miami-Dade’s new County Courthouse tower.

In 2021, the private developer of the tower requested waivers from Miami-Dade to allow for 20% glazing on the west façade, compared to 40% normally required by county code.

They also requested waivers to allow for blank walls facing the public right of way on Flagler Street and Northwest First Avenue.

Another waiver requested was to allow a reduction in landscaping to 3 trees and 13 palms, compared to the minimum 10 trees and 19 palms normally required.

It isn’t clear if the waivers were granted.

The new courthouse will be around 50% taller than the historic courthouse tower across the street.

The courthouse tower will rise 474 feet above ground, compared to the 361-foot height of the old courthouse. However, it will have fewer floors, with 25 compared to the old tower’s 28.
