🌱 ‘Hialeah-Opoly’ A Smash Hit + Freddys Speakeasy Miami Now Open

Hello, friends. It’s Monday in Miami and I’m Carlos Hernandez, back to get you caught up on the most important things happening in town. Here’s a quick look:

  • 🎲 A version of hit-game Monopoly based on Hialeah is the talk of the town.
  • 🍹 Miami’s InterContinental hotel has opened a new speakeasy named after a famous composer.
  • β›½ New allegations have been made against former Congressman David Rivera by a gas opponent of Maduro’s socialist government.

Today is National Bao Day. Enjoy a delicious bun at your favorite local Asian spot. I like 1-800-Lucky in Wynwood.

Here are the top five stories today in Miami:

1. Freddys Speakeasy has opened at Miami’s InterContinental hotel. It is named after the famed composer and pianist, FrΓ©dΓ©ric FranΓ§ois Chopin. Reservations are required and then you must follow instructions to find the secret location of the bar. (Time Out Miami)

3. A 3-year-old boy recently drowned in a Coconut Creek lake. His death was not the first at the complex though. A lawyer representing the family from a previous death alleges the lake at the complex is not up to code. (WPLG Local 10)

4. A man was found dead inside a vehicle in Davie at a Walmart located at 4301 Street University Drive after police responded to a call for a medical issue. An investigation is underway. The cause of death has not been released. (NBC Miami)

5. New allegations have been made against a former Miami congressman David Rivera who signed a $50 million consulting contract with Venezuela’s government. Rivera has not been charged with a crime at this time although he is under investigation. The allegations are being made by DV USA, a Delaware-based affiliate of Venezuelan-owned Citgo and opponent of Venezuela’s socialist government. (WPLG Local 10)
