Sergio Rascón has been appointed Vice President of Development at Apple Leisure Group in Mexico City


Apple Leisure Group® (“ALG”), a leading North American resort brand management, leisure travel and hospitality group, part of Hyatt, announced the appointment of Sergio Rascón as Vice President of Development. Rascón, based in Mexico City, leverages over 20 years of professional experience in the real estate financial services and investment management industries.

In his new role, Rascón reports to Javier Coll, Group President of Global Business Development and Innovation, as the newest member of the ALG Development team, which is hyper-focused on delivering unmatched hospitality expertise to hotel owners looking to invest in new assets or boost existing hotel property performance across Mexico, the Caribbean, Central America and Europe.

Rascón will also spearhead efforts to establish and bolster relationships within the Institutional investment management firms in Mexico and the Caribbean, including pension funds, endowments, and other institutional investors that seek to deploy capital across Latin America and Caribbean in luxury all-inclusive resorts.

Before joining ALG Development, Rascón spent 10 years holding top leadership roles at GE Real Estate where he consolidated both capital investments and financings for real estate assets. During his tenure, Rascón helped the GE team amass the largest real estate portfolio in Latin America, worth over $4.5 billion. Afterwards, Rascón served as a Managing Director at Blackstone, where he was in charge of raising a Mortgage REIT and expanding the firm’s investing and lending activities in Mexico´s real estate industry. Rascón also worked for several other leading real estate financial services and Investment Management companies with portfolios in Mexico and Latin America, including Citi Mexico, Grupo Carso and Nexxus Capital.

Sergio has also served real estate committees such as the Urban Land Institute (ULI), Mexican Association of Private Industrial Parks (AMPIP), International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC), Mexican Association of Real Estate and Infrastructure Funds (AMFII) and has participated in Credit and Investment Committees of local and multinational real estate firms such as ION Financiera, Obrascón Huarte Lain (OHL) Real Estate, SMNYL Real Estate and Alterna Capital Management.

Rascón is the latest addition to ALG Development’s growing team, which operates in the U.S. from the company’s headquarters in Newtown Square, Penn. and Miami, Fla., as well as in-country across the globe to provide unmatched support for owners, investors and developers.

Federico Moreno-Nickerson will continue to focus on Private Investors and Family Offices, Real Estate Brokerage Firms, and Consulting Firms in Mexico and Latin America. While Fernando Fernadez will continue with that same focus for Caribbean.
