Panther Alum LeBlanc Called Up to MLB by Miami Marlins

PITTSBURGH – Pitt baseball alum Charles LeBlanc (2015-16) has been selected from Triple-A Jacksonville and called up to Major League Baseball by the Miami Marlins, the organization announced on Friday evening.

A native of Laval, Quebec, Canada, LeBlanc played and started in 100 career games in his two years at Pitt. The standout infielder tallied 136 hits with 21 doubles, six triples and five homers and owned a career .471 slugging mark and a .432 on base percentage. LeBlanc earned All-ACC First Team honors in 2016 as a sophomore, becoming the first Panther in program history to land on the ACC’s first team. He won the ACC’s batting title in 2016 with a .405 average. His 79 hits that season are tied for the eighth-most in a single season in program history.

LeBlanc was selected in the fourth round of the 2016 MLB Draft by the Texas Rangers with the 129th overall pick. After spending the first six years of his professional career in the Texas organization, Miami claimed him off waivers last December. In 87 games with the Jumbo Shrimp this season, LeBlanc has posted career highs in batting average (.302), on-base percentage (.381), slugging percentage (.503) and OPS (.884) while compiling 96 hits with 20 doubles and 14 home runs to go along with 45 RBIs.
