Auburn football adds Miami 4-star and top-15 quarterback to class of 2024

Auburn continued to get much-needed recruiting wins on Saturday as Big Cat weekend continued. The second verbal pledge of the day came from a four-star at football’s premier position. Adrian Posse, a Florida four-star, will join the Tigers’ 2024 class.

Posse is ranked as the country’s No. 13 quarterback prospect and 184th overall, per 247Sports’ composite rankings. He’s measured at 6-foot-2, 205-pounds and has been evaluated as a strong-armed thrower with room for improvement heading into his junior season. With questions surrounding Bryan Harsin’s 2023 group, landing Posse could give the Tigers a cornerstone to build around.

Posse was a part of Miami Christian’s varsity team as an eighth grader. He attended Monsignor (Fla.) Pace as an underclassman. This spring, Posse transferred to Miami Colombus. Last month, he visited Miami, Oklahoma and others as he racked up 10-plus offers.

After a strong showing at a June 10 camp in the Plains, Posse was offered by Auburn. His primary recruiters were offensive coordinator Eric Kiesau and edge linebackers coach Roc Bellantoni. The latter helped the Tigers secure another Florida prospect, rising-senior defensive lineman Wilky Denaud, on Wednesday.

247Sports southeast recruiting analyst Andrew Ivins wrote: “Has the upper body strength to get the ball outside the hashes but seems to be at his best when he can set his feet and drive the football towards his target. … However, must improve pocket presence and internal clock as that will likely help cut down on the mistakes, which tend to come in flurries once rattled. Overall, should be viewed as a developmental quarterback prospect with some of the required tools to win games on Saturdays, but one that will need to keep progressing as a decision maker and get better at processing complex defenses, especially if he’s taking snaps in the SEC or Big Ten.”

Auburn has yet to name a starter for its 2022 season. On the recruiting trail, the Tigers haven’t added a thrower despite competing for big names like Briarwood Christian’s Christopher Vizzina (Clemson) and Lausanne (Tenn.) Collegiate’s Brock Glenn. (Glenn is set to announce Saturday afternoon). Four-star Air Noland, another 2024 product, from Fairburn, Georgia, currently has a 247 Crystal Ball prediction in Auburn’s favor.
