Miami Beach’s New Perigon Condos Offer Lavish Amenities – DIRT
Along the storied Miami Beach oceanfront, next to the Intracoastal Waterway, the Perigon is taking shape. It’s the first residential project in Miami designed by innovative architect Rem Koolhaas of OMA Architecture, as well as the first American project by London-based designer Tara Bernerd, who is renowned for her work on luxurious hotels and private yachts. Her work is celebrated in markets from Hong Kong and Osaka to New York and Los Angeles; her signature style regularly attracts five-star brands such as Four Seasons, Rosewood, Belmond and Thompson.
Ringed in a rhythmic stack of glass-railed terraces, the 17-story condo tower will include 73 two- to four- bedroom residences and eight resident-owned guest suites. Prices start at about $4 million for a 2,100 square feet spread. Inspired by the tower’s waterfront location between the Atlantic Ocean and the Intracoastal waterway, Bernerd chose an aesthetic that emphasizes panoramic ocean views, abundant natural light, private outdoor space, and expansive floor plans.
“The Perigon represents a unique opportunity to establish the next iteration of luxury living in Miami Beach,” says Bernerd. “Responding to and embracing the tower’s statement architecture, the amenity spaces have been designed to be indicative of a high-end hotel, presenting a unique challenge to infuse a sense of exclusivity together with a sense of warmth for residents.”
Inside the residences, the design incorporates a combination of organic fabrics, stone, glass and wood to create dimension and texture. The overall color palette is soft and natural, and there is a noticeable influence from Europe, which is especially evident in the open kitchens, for example, which feature Italian cabinetry custom designed by Bernerd. In master suites, bathrooms are adorned in marble with dark bronze fittings; some condos feature dramatic soaking tubs that overlook the shoreline and Miami skyline.
