Here are the top stories today in Miami:

1. A man was hospitalized following a shooting on Sunday night in Miami Gardens, according to the Miami Gardens Police Department. The shooting occurred in the 2100 block of Northwest 184th Street, police said. (WPLG Local 10)

2. A U.S. Coast Guard crew came to the rescue of a group of Haitian migrants on a dangerous path off of the Florida Keys. According to Coast Guard officials, the migrants’ sailboat had stalled off the coast of Islamorada. (WSVN)

3. Miami-Dade County commissioners are urging the Biden administration and the U.S. Department of Agriculture to act to lower interest rates on loans for the purchase of land for agricultural use. More interest rate increases are expected as Fed policymakers said they expect them to climb to 3.4% by year’s end. (Miami Today)

4. Billionaire Ken Griffin has announced plans to move his company Citadel to Miami, and will develop a new headquarters office tower in Brickell, according to Bloomberg and the Wall Street Journal. Citadel hedge fund and market-making firm Citadel Securities will be relocated to Miami. (The Next Miami)

5. Some students at Florida International University are hosting a demonstration in support of abortion rights on Monday night as protests continue to spread around the nation after the U.S. Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade. Religious leaders including Archbishop Thomas Wenski, Archdiocese of Miami, released a statement welcoming the court’s ruling and stating that human life begins at conception. (NBC Miami)

  • A group of 15-year-old girls held a lemonade sale in Weston Sunday. They said 100 percent of the proceeds will be donated to the Planned Parenthood action fund and protested the U.S. Supreme Court ruling on Roe v. Wade. (WPLG Local 10)
  • Jaden Rashada, a four-star quarterback and the No. 45 overall player in the Class of 2023, committed to the Miami Hurricanes live on CBS Sports HQ on Sunday. (CBS Sports)
  • Lauderdale Lakes Mayor Hazelle Rogers raised nearly $21,000 in May, beating out her only opponent in the race for District 9 on the Broward County Commission. Rogers was elected as Lauderdale Lakes Mayor in 2016, then re-elected in 2020. (Florida Politics)
