MATCH RECAP: Inter Miami CF II Earns Resounding 4-0 Win Over FC Cincinnati 2


Inter Miami CF II got back to winning ways on Sunday night with a resounding 4-0 win over FC CIncinnati 2 at DRV PNK Stadium.

Inter Miami CF II lined up with CJ dos Santos in goal; Israel Boatwright, Tyler Hall, Abel Caputo and Harvey Neville at the back; Benjamin Cremaschi, David Ruiz and George Acosta in midfield; and Joevin Jones and Romeo Beckham flanking striker Shaan Hundal in attack. 

The hosts started the proceedings on the front foot, with Hundal opening the scoring in the 15th minute. Left back Neville crossed a perfect ball for Hundal inside the box, who headed into the back of the net to put Inter Miami II ahead 1-0. It was Hundal’s second goal of the season and the first assist for Neville.

Inter Miami CF Academy product Cremaschi then extended the lead before the break. In the 40th minute, Neville sent a ball for Cremaschi in midfield from the left wing, with the 17 year-old midfielder taking a touch and unleashing a long-distance right-footed strike to put tht 2-0 on the board. It was Cremaschi’s second professional goal and Neville’s second assist of the season. 

The team followed suit in the second half, consistently creating danger in attack and having a solid defensive display.

In the 68th minute another Academy product achieved a significant milestone, with Boatwright scoring the 3-0. The right back, who made his way up the pitch and into the opponent’s box, received a cross a low-cross from Jones before finishing with a neat right-footed shot to the far post to register his first professional goal. The assist was Jones’ first of the season for Inter Miami CF II. 

Second half sub Shanyder Borgelin further extended Inter Miami’s lead in the 82nd minute after capitalizing on a long ball from fellow second half sub Modesto Mendez, who returned from a lengthy spell on the sidelines. Borgelin outran his markers and chipped the ball over the onrushing keeper from outside the box to score the fourth and final goal for the hosts. It was Borgelin’s fourth goal in 2022 and Mendez’s first assist of the season.

Inter Miami held onto its lead until the final minute to claim the three points at home, record the team’s fifth clean sheet of the season and defeat Cincinnati for the second time in 2022.

Inter Miami CF will hit the road for its next fixture on Friday, June 24, when it will face Toronto FC II.
