Here are the top stories in Miami today:
1. A South Florida man intentionally crashed his car into a state trooper’s cruiser on I-95 last Wednesday in Ft. Lauderdale because he wanted to be taken to jail, according to an arrest report. He allegedly told troopers that he wanted to go to jail because he “felt like he was already in jail.” He is now facing multiple charges and behind bars. (Miami Patch)
2. Dolphin Mall, Miami-Dade County’s largest outlet and value retail mall, will celebrate summer with an immersive “Bubble Fest” experience every day during the month of July. For 12 minutes each hour, between 2 p.m. and 6 p.m., shoppers can enjoy a one-of-a-kind event featuring bubbles floating through the air, dancing lights, and upbeat music every day of the week. (Miami’s Community News)
3. The Broward Sheriff’s Office (BSO) held a job fair for 911 operator roles on Saturday and hundreds of applicants turned out in record hot temperatures. BSO received $4 million from the county commission to make salaries competitive and bring people on board and now starts pay at $57,000 with full benefits. (CBS Miami)
4. Residents at a Hallandale Beach condominium were ordered to evacuate on Friday after a fire in the building’s electrical room. The city of Hallandale Beach posted the evacuation notice at 5:30 p.m. for one tower of the Hemispheres, located at 1965 South Ocean Drive. Residents only had hours to gather their belongings until the building is deemed safe again. (NBC Miami)
5. A developer has submitted plans to build an apartment complex called River Rapids. The project is planned at 2750 NW South River Drive, replacing a former trailer park, and will include 593 residential units and 862 parking spaces. (The Next Miami)

- 5 Cuban migrants were rescued in the Florida Keys Friday by Border Patrol agents and Monroe County deputies. The migrants were reportedly suffering from dehydration. (NBC Miami)
- Atlanta United earned a 2-0 win on Sunday over Inter Miami CF. United outshot Miami 18-11, with 8 shots on goal to 4 for Miami. Miami will host Minnesota United next. (CBS Miami)
- Miami-Dade is seeking to add floating solar power plants to its electrical operations, according to a report from Miami-Dade Mayor Daniella Levine Cava. The initiative has been sought for quite awhile by the mayor. (Miami Today)
