Could Bryan Hoeing make his MLB debut in 2022?

Out of all Miami Marlins‘ prospects, you will find few throughout the organization that have had a better overall start to the 2022 season than right-hander Bryan Hoeing.

A former seventh round pick by the organization in the 2019 MLB Draft out of Louisville, Hoeing originally began his professional career back in 2019 with Low-A Batavia. Working solely as a reliever, the right-hander would go-on to post a combined 4.43 ERA across 22.1 IP, with his first full professional season having to wait until 2021 due to no minor league season in 2020.

Looking back at last season as well, Hoeing would spent the entirety of the 2021 campaign with High-A Beloit, making a total of 22 starts as a full-time starter. Across those 121 IP, the right-hander would post a combined 7-6 record and a 4.83 ERA with the Snappers, along with a 96:24 K:BB.

Coming off that season, Hoeing has since began the 2022 campaign with Double-A Pensacola, but would receive a quick promotion to Triple-A Jacksonville after impressing across four starts posting a 0.35 ERA with a 26:4 K:BB.

While not necessarily having had the same success so far with the Jumbo Shrimp posting a 6.35 ERA across his first three starts, Hoeing has certainly emerged as a name to watch for. Could the 25-year-old potentially make his MLB debut at some point during the 2022 season?

Could Miami Marlins prospect Bryan Hoeing make his MLB debut in 2022?

The Miami Marlins current No. 30 prospect according to MLB Pipeline, Hoeing is an intriguing name to keep an eye on going forward. Why you ask? Not only is he off to an exciting start to the season, but the right-hander has experience pitching out of both the rotation and bullpen, two things that could combine into an eventual MLB debut for Hoeing in 2022.

Looking back at his time at Louisville, 14 of Hoeing’s 57 appearances in college were starts, a span in which the right-hander held a combined 3.24 ERA. Pitching primarily out of the bullpen, Hoeing had success in that role, and is a potential long relief option in Triple-A that the Marlins could look to if needed, one who is having a strong season so far.

While a potential MLB debut is likely not to happen in the coming weeks, Hoeing is certainly a name to watch for going forward, one that could potentially be called up at some point this season.
