Miami Marlins on impressive run to close out April

The Miami Marlins have had moments of success throughout franchise history. Despite never winning the NL East, they have two World Series championships and advanced to the second round in the 2020 postseason.

However, for all of that success, the Marlins have never really started any season on a hot streak. That has not been the case this year, as the Marlins ended April on a seven game winning streak, tying their longest ever winning streak for the month.

Miami Marlins taking care of business in early going

As it was, the Marlins were an interesting team heading into the season. They made several moves to upgrade their lineup and bullpen, aiming to return to contention this season. That was a tall task given the division they find themselves in, but their rotation had the potential to be one of the best in the majors heading into the season.

At this point, the Marlins are exceeding expectations. They find themselves with a 12-8 record, two games behind the Mets in second place in the NL East. Their 8-2 mark over the last ten games only trails the Yankees in that time frame.

It is possible that this is a sign of things to come. The Marlins may not be scoring many runs just yet, but they are getting on base at a solid rate while doing an impressive job at preventing runs as well.

Yes, it is still early. And yes, it is fair to worry about a younger team, such as the Marlins, peaking too early. But there is also something to be said for confidence, especially at the start of the season. The Marlins could take this early success and run with it, setting up what could be an unexpected run at a postseason berth.

The Miami Marlins have tied their franchise record for their longest winning streak in April. They just need to keep building off of that momentum.
