Inter Miami get green light for 25,000 all seater stadium

The Miami Freedom Park project is finally set to become a reality for the MLS club after the local City Commission passed via a 4-1 vote which will see the creation of the 25,000 all-seater stadium where the team will play from the 2025 season onwards.

The site, which will be built on what is currently the Melreese golf course, will also include hotel rooms and a series of commercial and office spaces.

The club maintain that the project will not utilize any city money and will be 100% privately funded by club ownership. The Miami Freedom Park initiative received overwhelming support from City of Miami residents, having received more than 60% voter approval last November’s referendum.

“It is an amazing day for the voters of our city, for the fans of football in Inter Miami and I want to sincerely thank the Commissioner, the Mayor and everyone who was involved in this process,” claimed Jorge Mas, Inter Miami CEO and managing owner, after the approval was confirmed. ” … I always knew that this would happen, because I believe in our city and I believe in dreaming. And today a dream commences.”

Two more seasons at DRV PNK

The club will continue to play home matches at DRV PNK Stadium in Fort Lauderdale (some 30 miles from the new location) for the current campaign along with the 2023 and 24 seasons with Miami Freedom Park expected to be finished for the 2025 MLS season.
