By The Numbers | City vs. Charlotte

Robin Jansson is set to become the third player in Orlando City MLS history to achieve 100 appearances for the club in all competitions if he plays in this Saturday’s game against Charlotte FC. Jansson arrived in Orlando in March 2019 and instantly became a fan favorite, helping Orlando City reduce its goals against tally by 22 goals in his first season.

3 – Strong first impressions

Orlando has been a fairly rude host for newly-arriving MLS clubs over the past few years. The Lions have won three straight games in which they are playing a team for the first time, defeating Cincinnati 5-1 in 2019, topping Miami 2-1 in the MLS is Back Tournament opener in 2020, and knocking off Nashville 3-1 at Exploria Stadium later that summer. Charlotte and Orlando will meet for the first time ever this weekend.

Not much was known about Charlotte goalkeeper Kristijan Kahlina when he signed from Bulgarian side Ludogorets this winter. But the Croatian has been stellar in net for the expansion side, ranking third in MLS with 35 saves and fourth with a .761 save percentage.

Orlando City has sent eight players to United States Youth National Team camps this week, more than any other club, per U.S. Soccer. First teamers Thomas Williams and Mikey Halliday, as well as OCB defender Quembol Guadalupe, are currently training with the U-20s. Recent Homegrown signing Alex Freeman leads four selections to the U-19 squad along with OCB’s Ethan Subachan, Favian Loyola and Gonzalo Agustoni-Chagas. Academy goalkeeper Zackory Campagnolo is also with the U-15 team in Italy participating in the Torneo delle Nazioni.
