Lie Flat Business Class Bargains! Miami-Dubai $2,500, Barcelona-Sao Paulo $1,200 & Manila-Kuwait $800

It’s deal time again! We’re loving the offers being sent to us from Mighty Travels, and today’s offering is no different. Whether you want to go next week, next year or somewhere in between the two, we’ve got three juicy business class offers for you today that could just be the start of your next dream getaway.

Autumn getaway – Miami to Dubai in business for under $2,500

Departing on October 5th with a return on the 25th, this all-business deal will see you heading across the continents to the glitzy fun box that is Dubai. Whether you want to teeter at the top of the huge Burj Khalifa, slip down the slides at Atlantis Waterpark or meet the penguins in the indoor Antarctica at the mall, there’s really no limit to what you can do. Add onto that the potential for camel rides, quad biking across the desert or simply relaxing on the beach in the permanent sunshine and there’s little reason not to visit Dubai at least once in your lifetime.

Dubai

Mighty Travels have found a luxury offer leaving Miami, which will give you a choice of two Lufthansa Group airlines on the way out. The impatient traveler’s choice would certainly be SWISS, with the 777 offering a decent onboard product and the itinerary requiring only a two-hour layover in Zurich on route.

For the avgeeks out there, the ideal option will undoubtedly be Lufthansa, as the airline operates the Queen of the Skies, its Boeing 747, on this route. Most likely you’ll get the inimitable Boeing 747-8i, but very lucky fliers might get a touch of retro class as the 747-400 does sometimes make an appearance too. The downside to this option is six hours in Frankfurt – given the typical chaos of getting in and out of FRA, we wouldn’t recommend attempting to leave the airport on this length of layover.

Whichever airline you choose, you’ll be in Europe around nine hours after leaving Miami. From there, the same airline will take you on to Dubai, again in lie flat business class. Lufthansa takes the capable A330 on this six-and-a-half-hour run, while SWISS flies the increasingly rare Airbus A340. There’s definitely avgeek appeal to both itineraries!

The onboard product from both airlines is pretty good, but in our opinion, SWISS has the edge. Both the 777 and the A340 feature its ‘chocolate and cream’ interior, with a relatively spacious layout, although not everyone gets direct aisle access. If you’re traveling solo, however, and can get your hands on one of those throne seats, it’s head and shoulders better experience than anything on Lufthansa.

The Lufthansa 747 business class, while lie flat, is not the most private or spacious. There is a business cabin on the top deck, so if that’s a bucket list item, go for it. But if what you want is more space, the lower deck cabin is less packed in. The same-ish product features on the A330, which is downright squeezy in terms of space. Given that this trip is still six months away, there is a slim chance of its new business class on the 787 making an appearance on this route, but we can’t guarantee that.

Either way, this is a sweet little bargain for two very long flights from the US to the Middle East, and just perfect for an autumn getaway. The 20-day trip is currently selling for $2,435, giving you a lot of lie flat time for a manageable investment.

Barcelona to Sao Paulo in business for just $1,199

If you like to plan ahead, you could be on your way to one heck of a trip next spring. Mighty Travels have brought us an incredible business class fare from Barcelona to the fabulous Sao Paulo in Brazil, departing next February 1st for a two week trip.

Sao Paulo is the financial center of Brazil, with many popular attractions including the beautiful Parque Ibiraquera, the lively Paulista Avenue and the colorful Batman Alley. Visitors can enjoy a wealth of side trips from the city too, from beaches and vineyards to the glorious Iguazu Galls – the largest waterfall system in the world and personally recommended to us by Mighty Travels.

Departing Barcelona, the first hop is quite literally so, with HOP! providing an Embraer E190 transfer to Paris Charles de Gaulle. The layover is only three hours, just enough time to grab a croque monsieur and a glass of vino before heading to the gates for the Aeromexico overnight departure to Mexico City.

The flight is operated by Aeromexico’s Boeing 787, fitted out with the popular Collins Aerospace Super Diamond product, offering unrivaled privacy, comfort, and a fully lie flat experience. Clase Premier is in a 1-2-1 configuration, with direct aisle access for all and a 21-inch wide seat that converts into a 78-inch bed.

The 12-hour flight is perfect for a decent amount of sleep, and although the layover in Mexico City is long, you don’t have to stay at the airport for all that time.

Mexico City Airport is easy to catch an Uber from, with around a 20 – 30 minute transfer to the downtown area. Alternatively, the Metro is much cheaper, but the convenience of this will depend on the part of the city you want to do to. With 15 hours to kill, you’d have time to explore the Palacio de Bellas Artes, visit a mercardo or simply grab some churros and coffee and watch the world go by!

Back to the airport and Aeromexico will be your onward transportation, again on a Boeing 787. The nine hour trip is plenty of time to grab a power nap before touching down in GRU at 08:00 on February 3rd. Simple Flying took this exact trip a while back; you can check out our thoughts here.

Last minute Kuwait City from Manila – $808

If you’re in the Philippines and want a quick post-Easter getaway at a bargain price, Mighty Travels has spotted this incredible deal for three flights, all business class, two of which are lie flat operations. Departure is on April 20th – yes this week – with a return on May 4th.

The first leg from Ninoy Aquino (MNL) is serviced by Thai with its Airbus A350. The cabin is in a 1-2-1 configuration, alternating honeymoon central seats with more private positions. The fully flat seats are ideal for a quick nap on this 3.5-hour leg.

The layover in Bangkok is just over 10 hours, which is more than enough time to leave the airport and explore a bit of the city. Bus tours can be booked from the Arrivals Floor, where concourse C, D and E intersect. Or you can simply grab a taxi for the 30km run into the city, and choose your own fun. Visit Khao San Road for some noodles, get a spot of culture at Wat Pho or simply grab a relaxing Thai massage at one of the city’s many providers.

Heading back to the airport late evening, you’ll be catching Ethiopian Airlines’ Dreamliner for the almost nine-hour trip to Addis Ababa. While the layout is more dated than Thai’s, with the less appealing 2-2-2 configuration, the seats offer a decent amount of privacy and a very comfortable sleeping surface for the night.

So Ethiopian’s business class isn’t quite as modern as the Super Diamond layout, but it still offers ample comfort and the chance to get some sleep. Photo: Ethiopian Airlines

Not going to lie, the layover in Addis is not short. At 15 and a bit hours, it’s too long to just hang about in the airport, unless you’re a particularly dedicated lounge lizard. But with arrival at 06:30 and the onward departure not until 21:55, that’s a full day to soak up the atmosphere in Addis.

Even better, Ethiopian Airlines offers a free stopover program, which will see you get a free transit visa to leave the airport (providing your passport qualifies for a visa on arrival – check here), a free hotel room, free transportation to and from the hotel and free meals! Do check with ET on what’s included right now though, as lots of this was put on ice during the pandemic, and is coming back in dribs and drabs.

Finally, a business class seat on Ethiopian’s 737 will convey you to your final destination of Kuwait. It’s not lie flat, but does have a decent amount of recline for a comfortable trip. ET 620 lands in Kuwait City at just after 2am, landing you in the heart of the Middle East after one heck of a whistle stop tour!

All this for just over $800? It almost sounds too good to be true!
