WTA Draw released for 2022 Miami Open: Potential Round Two clash between Osaka and Kerber


The draw has been released ahead of 2022 Miami Open which will take place between Mar 22 – Apr 3, 2022 as part of the Sunshine Double after Indian Wells.

Among those involved over the next week include Emma Raducanu, Simona Halep, Aryna Sabalenka, Naomi Osaka, Maria Sakkari, Paula Badosa and Iga Swiatek who won in California on Sunday evening.

Osaka could face Angelique Kerber in the second round in one of the ties to watch if the former World Number One can get past Astra Sharma.

Leylah Fernandez is in the same section and will face either Karolina Muchova or Tereza Martincova. Australian Open finalist, Danielle Collins on her return to action will face either Caroline Garcia or Anna Bondar.

In terms of Raducanu, she will start against either a qualifier or Katerina Siniakova in the second round. While for top seed Sabalenka, it is either Hailey Baptiste or Irina-Camelia Begu as like many of the top seeds, she has received a BYE.


Simona Halep is set to face either Greet Minnen or Daria Gavrilova. While in the same part of the draw, Camila Giorgi could face Ajla Tomljanovic.

Anett Kontaveit who was on hand for the draw alongside Coco Gauff will play either Li Ann or Mayar Sherif.

Jelena Ostapenko could face Shelby Rogers or Amanda Anisimova, while Swiatek’s first game in the same half since winning Indian Wells could be Viktorija Golubic.

Paula Badosa at the top of that half will play either Laura Siegemund or a qualifier. Victoria Azarenka could face Ekaterina Alexandrova or Jasmine Paolini in a tough opener. Similarly Elena Rybakina gets either Elena-Gabriela Ruse or Ana Konjuh.
