Cleveland State Women’s Tennis Splits Doubleheader Against Miami (Ohio) & Slippery Rock Athletics


CLEVELAND, Ohio – The Cleveland State women’s tennis team closed out the week with a doubleheader Saturday, picking up a 6-1 victory over Slippery Rock and falling to Miami (Ohio), 5-2. The Vikings finish the weekend standing at 6-2 on the season.

Bethany Yauch went 2-0 in her singles matches on Saturday, while the quartet of Oihane Vicario, Sima Heren, Selma Tounsi, and Tereze Vevere went 1-1 in singles on the day. 

With her two wins against Miami (Ohio) and Slippery Rock, Yauch now owns a team-best 13-6 singles record on the year, while she is tied for the team-lead with a 6-2 mark this spring.

Vicario and Vevere are right behind Yauch with matching 12-7 records on the year following their singles wins against Slippery Rock and Miami (Ohio), respectively. 

The Vikings were able to sweep the doubles matches against Slippery Rock, picking up the doubles point for the fifth time this season. After the first eight matches of the year, Heren and Klara Mrcela own a team-best 4-1 doubles mark, while Tounsi and Yauch are 4-3 on the season. 

Cleveland State will return to action next weekend, hosting Toledo on Friday, February 18 and Cincinnati on Sunday, February 20.
