Miami football 2022 defense signees closest current roster ranking comparison


The 2022 class signed by the Miami football program is defensive-oriented. Miami signed seven defensive players including two in the top 100. Another three signees ranked between 100 and 200 nationally according to the 247 Sports Composite rankings. The 2022 Miami class is led by defensive ends Nyjalik Kelly and Cyrus Moss.

Moss is the 69th ranked player and eighth-ranked edge rusher in the Class of 2022. Kelly is the 88th ranked player, 13th ranked defensive lineman and 13th in Florida. Cornerbacks Chris Graves and Khamauri Rogers and linebacker Wesley Bissianthe are also listed in the top 200 players nationally.

Graves is the 158th ranked player, 20th athlete and 20th in Florida. Rogers is the 117th ranked player and 15th CB for 2022. Bissainthe is the 181st ranked player, 18th LB and 23rd in Florida. Miami also signed four-star safety Markeith Williams and three-star CB Jaden Harris in the Class of 2022.

The closest comparison in talent rating when they signed for Kelly and Moss at DE is Chantz Williams who projects to be a starter for the Miami football team this season. Moss received a rating of 0.9711 and Kelly .9611 from 247 Sports. Williams received a grade of 0.9634 when he signed with Miami in 2020.

Graves received a rating of  0.9528 and Rogers 0.9366. The closest rated CB to Graves and Rogers on the current Miami roster is Al Blades Jr. at 0.9556. Bissainthe received a rating of 0.9278. The LBs with the closest ratings to Bissainthe are Keontra Smith with a 0.9227. Smith signed with Miami as a safety in 2019.

Markeith Williams has a rating of 0.9002. Williams rates right between Miami starting rising sophomore safety Kamren Kinchens who was graded at 0.8954 when he signed in 2021 and 2020 signee Jalen Harrell who received a rating of 0.9139. Harris was rated at 0.8777. Marcus Clarke is the closest rated player to Harris at 0.8653.

The 2022 Miami Class ranks 38th, but nine of the 10 current signees are blue chips. Miami is expected to sign more players during National Signing Day next week. Miami is a finalist for five-star DL Shemar Stewart. Stewart would be the highest rated player on the Miami roster. Only James Williams and Leonard Taylor are close.
