Dutch Home Prices Rose to a Record High in December

Dutch existing-home prices rose 20.4% in December to an average €400,000 (US$452,628), a record level since Statistics Netherlands began tracking the market in 1995. The pace of growth was the most significant in more than 40 years, the government institution said. Low mortgage rates and a supply shortage have pushed housing prices higher, economists say. Housing Stock in California’s Bay Area Falls to Historic Lows

The number of homes for sale in California’s Bay Area hit historic lows in December. In San Mateo and Santa Clara counties, only about 700 single-family homes were listed for sale in recent weeks, less than half of the number a year ago, according to Zillow data. The number of homes for sale in San Jose fell 60% year over year to just 106 properties, while Oakland listings dropped 40% to 103, and Fremont fell 50% to only 12.
