Illinois Swimming and Diving Cancels Winter Miami Trip Due to COVID-19 Concerns
Champaign, Ill.: Due to ongoing COVID-19 concerns in the country, the Illinois Swimming and Diving team will no longer be traveling to Miami for the FIU Sprint Invitational and Relay meet. This decision was made late last week by the coaching staff due to concerns in the Miami area and are not related to COVID-19 issues within the team.
Following Illinois’ decision not to compete, both the Sprint Invitational and the Relay Meet to be held in Miami were canceled. Illinois (4-2) last competed in the midseason House of Champions Invite on November 18th, taking first place out of nine teams. The Fighting Illini compete next in their home opener on January 15th versus Iowa that will commence at the ARC pool at 11 a.m.
