Vinicius from Miami: 2022 will be Real Madrid’s year

Actualizado

Speaking whilst on holiday in the United States, Vinicius Junior has assured a young fan that the new year will be a good one for Real Madrid.

The Brazilian winger was strolling along near Ocean Drive in Miami with some friends when approached by an Argentinian in a Manchester City shirt who asked for a photo. Tomas Larisgoitia got more than just a photo from the Real Madrid star, however.

Vinicius invited Tomas, who cried with emotion while posing for the photo, to come back to the hotel with him so he could gift him a signed jersey. Soon, they were chatting and joking as Tomas swapped his sky blue City shirt for the white of Real Madrid.

“2022 will be Real Madrid‘s year,” said a smiling Vinicius as Tomas made the switch.

The conversation that followed covered various topics, including Vinicius‘ holidays, where he has taken advantage of the time off to take in a Miami Heat game and an NFL match, with the latter being an invitation from none other than Tom Brady.

Although enjoying his down time, he’s still in work mode, however, as he follows a daily training routine that his coach Thiago Lobos has drawn up for him. Vinicius wants to continue and build on the form he has started the season with.

The year of Vinicius

If 2022 will be the year of Real Madrid, it might also be the year of Vinicius Junior, who has begun 2021/22 by making a leap which has made the world sit up and take notice. Prospect no longer, suddenly he is a genuine star and a massively important part of Carlo Ancelotti‘s team.

In fact, Vinicius has already been named the best Brazilian player in Europe in 2021, ahead of Neymar, which no one would have expected at the beginning of the year. In terms of new year’s resolutions, it’s onwards and upwards for the 21-year-old, who believes he is just getting started.

“I’ve always said that one of my dreams is for all Brazilians to support me and, in some way, knowing that my football is bringing joy to the fans makes me happy,” Vinicius recently told Brazilian newspaper Globo Esporte.

“In my career, 2021 was a special year, I grew on and off the pitch. Off the pitch I’m happy with the launch of the Base app, which is aimed at digital education in Brazilian public schools.

“I hope that 2022, a year with a World Cup and a lot of important games for Real Madrid, will be even better.”
