It was undoubtedly a wild year for the real estate market, and these celebrities made sure to get in on the action. From Tom Cruise’s Colorado ranch to Kelly Clarkson’s Tennessee lake house to Joe Jonas and Sophie Turner’s contemporary Los Angeles home, here are TopTenRealEstateDeals.com’s favorite celebrity homes on the market in 2021:

1) Camila Cabello’s Hollywood Hills home

Camila Cabello’s Hollywood Hills home flew off the market this year, going under contract for $3.95 million just weeks after it was listed in early November.

The 24-year-old Cuban-American singer-songwriter had her first encounter with fame in 2012 as a contestant on the X Factor, where she became part of the group Fifth Harmony, created by judge Simon Cowell. After leaving the group in 2016, Cabello’s celebrity only grew as she scooped up a number of awards and nominations, including two Latin Grammy Awards and four American Music Awards (three for her hit song “Havana,” featuring Young Thug). Cabello also topped the charts with “Senorita,” which she made with her then-boyfriend, Canadian singer-songwriter Shawn Mendes. The couple called it quits in late November, though they said in a joint announcement on Instagram that they will “continue to be best friends,” according to USA Today.

Perhaps that’s why Cabello listed her 3,579-square-foot Mediterranean-style home the same month. The split-level home has four bedrooms and four bathrooms, and high walls keep the backyard sheltered from the public eye. The home was built in 1977. A vanishing glass wall allows one to drink in views of the saltwater pool and lush terrace from the comfort of the living room. The floors are distressed wood and tile throughout. The mostly white walls and counters throughout the home are complemented by pops of color and texture — from the brightly colored fireplace surrounds to the mirror-paneled dining room wall. 2) Leonardo DiCaprio buys $7.1 million California mansion for his mom

Academy Award-winning actor and producer Leonardo DiCaprio is no stranger to the real estate market. In addition to his work on the big screen and his climate activism, DiCaprio has collected a sizable real estate portfolio over the years, snatching up an L.A. home from Madonna in 1990 and a mid-century modern mansion built for Dinah Shore in Palm Springs, Calif., among others. DiCaprio recently added a beautiful Spanish-Colonial in Los Feliz, Calif., to the list, purchasing the home from Modern Family star Jesse Tyler Ferguson as a gift for his mother, Irmelin Indenbirken. Singer Gwen Stefani had previously owned the home.

The nearly 5,000-square-foot home is brimming with period details, featuring a tile roof, arched entryways, stained-glass windows, and inlaid ceilings. Many of the rooms also have vaulted ceilings and elegant fireplaces. The home, built in 1928, comes with four bedrooms and six bathrooms and is nestled amid lots of greenery and palm trees, easily enjoyed from the numerous balconies, terraces, and courtyard spaces. Though an antique style pervades the home, there’s plenty of modern amenities, including a detached meditation room by the pool and spa area and a drop-down screen that allows the family room to transition into a media room. The kitchen also strikes a more modern chord, with wood floors and polished counters and cabinets.

3) Joe Jonas & Sophie Turner sell in LA and move to Miami

Power-couple Joe Jonas and Sophie Turner may not have stayed long in their contemporary abode in Encino, Calif.’s Royal Oaks quarter, but they definitely left their mark on the home. The lead singer of the Jonas Brothers trio and the Game of Thrones star bought the home in 2019 for $14.1 million and listed it at $16.75 million over the summer.

With the help of celebrity designer Jae Omar, the couple transformed their 15,000-square-foot home, adding a lap pool with a spa, a custom wine cellar, and aged-wood and imported stone accents throughout. High ceilings, wood and white walls, and large openings that let out onto the various balconies and patio spaces add a natural, airy aura to the modern home. The two-bedroom guest house is perfectly outfitted for entertaining, with an aquarium, cigar humidor, kegerator, fog machine, disco lights, and DJ station.

The nine-bedroom, eleven-bathroom sold for $15.2 million in September, the priciest sale in the San Fernando Valley for the year, according to the Los Angeles Times, and the second most expensive sale the region has ever seen. The top title belongs to another Jonas brother, Nick. Nick Jonas and his wife, actress Priyanka Chopra, sold their home for $20 million in 2019.

Jonas and Turner had already purchased 10,416-square-foot house in Miami for $11 million when they listed the home in June.

4) Alicia Keys & Swizz Beatz sell modern Phoenix mansion

Singer Alicia Keys and her husband, Swizz Beatz, sold their Phoenix vacation home this year for $3.1 million. The fifteen-time Grammy winner and the DJ/producer share an affinity for contemporary homes, buying the famous “Razor House” for $20.8 million in La Jolla, Calif., in 2019. The futuristic home has floor-to-ceiling windows that offer stunning views of the Pacific. Originally priced at $45 million, the Razor house has been featured in Calvin Klein and Visa commercials.

The gated Phoenix home the couple sold is tucked away in the hills of Camelback Mountain. Floor-to-ceiling windows in the kitchen and the primary bedroom offer impressive views of Echo Canyon, Piestewa Peak, and Mummy Mountain. The 7,050-square-foot home has four bedrooms, six baths, and several special features, including an 800-bottle wine room, a wet bar, a home theater and game room, and an infinity pool. There’s also an elevator from the six-car garage to the main level.

5) Tom Cruise sells the Colo. ranch he helped design

Located on 320 acres, Tom Cruise’s ranch in Telluride, Colo., is a mountain lover’s dream. The property features a sports court for tennis, basketball, or hockey, miles of hiking and riding trails, dirt bike and snowmobile tracks, and a private gate to Uncompahgre National Forest.

The A-list actor, who rose to fame with movies like Top Gun and Risky Business, helped design the home and spent much of his time there while married to actress Katie Holmes. The ranch was also the location of his famous 2008 couch-jumping sit-down with Oprah.

There’s 11,512 square feet of living space: a 10,000-square-foot, four-bedroom main house and a 1,512-square-foot, three-bedroom guest house. Both rustic-looking buildings are made of stone and bleached cedar, with wood floors, walls, and ceilings throughout. The main house has a gym, recreation room, and library.

The ranch, which sold for the $39.5 million asking price, is one of a few properties Cruise owns. The others are in Beverly Hills and Clearwater, Fla. Real estate aside, the actor has been keeping busy starring in Top Gun: Maverick and Mission: Impossible 7, both set to hit the big screen in 2022.

6) Matthew Perry sells an entire floor at celebrity hotspot

Actor Matthew Perry broke a record this year with the sale of his Los Angeles condo. The Friends actor sold the entire 40th floor of the Century City condominium building — a unit he bought in 2017 — for $21.6 million, the most expensive sale in L.A. since 2015.

The building, which has attracted celebrities like Rihanna and Paula Abdul, was designed by Robert A.M. Stern Architects in 2009 and features four acres of private gardens, a 75-foot-long swimming pool, a screening room, yoga and Pilates studios, and a wine storage area. There’s also 24/7 valet, doorman, and concierge service.

Perry’s 9,318-square-foot space has four bedrooms and eight bathrooms, with floor-to-ceiling windows that offer stunning views of the cityscape. There’s also a living room with two fireplaces, a game room, a home theater, and four terraces towering over the rest of the city.

The actor has had an eventful year, selling this condo and his Malibu Beach home and working as an executive producer on Friends: The Reunion. Though he spends most of his time in New York City, Perry also owns a cottage in Pacific Palisades, which he picked up for $6 million last year.

7) Matt Damon sells his Pacific Palisades mansion

Matt Damon and his family abandoned Los Angeles for New York City this year, selling their 13,508-square-foot home in Pacific Palisades, Calif., for $17.9 million.

The seven-bedroom, 10-bathroom home was originally listed for $21 million, but Damon reduced the price after struggling to find a buyer. The line between indoors and outdoors is blurred in the home, with moveable glass walls that open into the yard and center atrium. The primary bathroom has its own terrace, an en-suite bathroom, dual dressing rooms, and a massage room. The home also features a game room, a gym, wine storage and a tasting room, and a media room.

Just as much detail was paid to the outdoor amenities. The property has a modern pool and stone patio, a spa, a play area, a koi pond, a waterwall, and a covered Hawaiian-style lanai.

The Academy Award-winning actor and his family left the lush estate behind for a six-bedroom penthouse in Brooklyn, which they purchased for a record-breaking $16.745 million in 2018.

8) Kelly Clarkson sells stunning Tennessee lake home

Kelly Clarkson, whose Encino, Calif., mansion topped last year’s list, is back this year with the sale of her 20,121-square-foot lake house in Hendersonville, Tenn. The home first hit the market for $8.75 million before dropping to $7.49 million early in the year. It eventually sold for $6.3 million.

Clarkson, the first-ever American Idol winner, has owned the waterfront home for close to 10 years. There’s a lot of focus on outdoor living, with a covered two-boat boathouse with a lift, a sand volleyball court, a greenhouse, a children’s play area, and a pool that has a covered pavilion and a fireplace. A double-sided staircase leads from the pool area to the upper terrace.

Inside, the seven-bedroom, 11-bathroom home has a more formal air, with a grand entrance featuring a curved, double staircase and several ornate chandeliers throughout. There’s also plenty of space to let loose and have fun, too, including a theater and game room. Clarkson decorated the home herself, and her style is evident throughout, especially in the home’s cowboy-themed bar with saddle bar stools.

Clarkson is currently working as a judge on The Voice and as the host of her own talk show,The Kelly Clarkson Show. She recently dropped a Christmas album, When Christmas Comes Around.

9) John Legend & Chrissy Teigen sell one of their Beverly Hills homes

One of Hollywood’s most famous couples, singer John Legend and model Chrissy Teigen, found themselves with one too many Beverly Hills homes this year. The 8,520-square-foot home featured here, which the couple bought from Rihanna in 2016, first hit the market for $23.95 million. The price was eventually lowered to $17.95 million, and the home sold for $16.8 million.

The couple spent time and energy updating the contemporary estate, adding warmer colors and redecorating the kitchen. Soaring ceilings and a sunken living room with floor-to-ceiling windows add an airy aura to the common spaces. The owner bedroom has a brass and concrete fireplace, dual dressing rooms and walk-in closets, and a “glam room.” All eight bedrooms have en-suite bathrooms and balconies. There’s also an in-home gym and a cozy theater room.

Outside, views of the canyon are at every turn, and the list of amenities continues: a saltwater pool, hot tub, grill, and wood-fired oven. The home also takes advantage of L.A.’s year-round sunshine, with solar power and a generator.

10) Nicole Sullivan lists an enchanting LA cottage

Known for her roles on sitcoms like King of Queens and Black-ish, Nicole Sullivan also has an eye for design, a quality that shines through in her charming home in L.A.’s Laurel Canyon neighborhood.

The home hit the market late this year for $1.45 million and sold for $1.785 million. Tucked into a hill and surrounded by greenery, the 1,678-square-foot home offers plenty of privacy. Its coral-colored walls and short stone wall give the home a farmhouse-feel. The inside is light and airy, with open floor plans, lots of natural light, a white-beamed ceiling, and a white brick fireplace.

The kitchen and sunroom both have French doors that open onto the patio (home to a hot tub), surrounded by more stone walls and foliage.
