Plagued by physical injury more than the league’s much-documented Health and Safety Protocols, the Miami Heat continue to string together significant wins as the New Year approaches.

It was exemplified in a, 115-112, win over Detroit and as the Miami Heat made a proper response to the Pistons’ blistering first-half shooting performance.

En route to Thursday’s home win, they performed with harder closeouts, fought through screens, and sent multiple double-teams to the perimeter.

It allowed them to withstand an exuberant Pistons team that was without four starters.

Contributing to such a resilient effort was a first-year prospect, Marcus Garrett, who played a season-high 19 minutes and recorded Miami’s second-highest Plus/Minus (11) on the evening. Since being recalled from Sioux Falls back on November 15, Garrett has seen the floor a bit more with the Miami Heat missing several key players.

And in short bursts, we’re seeing instant signs of untapped potential of a lead guard type.
