Miami Marlins vs Cincinnati Reds – July 14, 2024

The Cincinnati Reds have won three games in a row, five of their last six, and are looking for a win this afternoon that would be a 3-game sweep of the Miami Marlins at Great American Ball Park. The final game before the All-Star break has a scheduled first pitch of 1:40pm ET.

Starting Lineup

Starting Pitchers

Nick Lodolo

In his first start back after spending time on the injured list while dealing with a blister on his pitching hand, Nick Lodolo struggled. Facing Colorado he allowed four runs in 3.2 innings and gave up two home runs.

Nick Lodolo’s splits are a bit weird. Left-handed hitters don’t face him much, but when they do they are hitting for a higher average and walking more often than righties are. But they are not hitting for any power at all against him. Righties aren’t hitting for average or drawing walks, but they do show a little bit of pop against him when they do pick up hits.

Trevor Rogers

After a solid start to the year, Rogers hit a big speed bump in May and allowed 16 earned runs in 14.1 innings in the first four starts of the month. Since then he’s made eight starts with a 3.48 ERA.

The splits aren’t that big for Rogers this season. Lefties and righties are both hitting for a high average and drawing walks at a solid rate. Right-handed hitters are showing a little more power than lefties are.
