Broward teacher faces charge of child abuse
MIAMI – A Monarch High School teacher is facing charges Friday after being accused of abusing a student.
The teacher was identified as Christopher Cagle, 64, who teaches science at the Coconut Creek school.
The arrest report says the incident started when the student called the teacher “Cagle Bagel” Thursday during school hours.
The student said Cagle called him to come toward him. He said he tried to shake the teacher’s hand, but that is when Cagle grabbed his hand and twisted it behind his back, according to the arrest report.
The student told police the teacher grabbed him by his hair and pushed his head against a table two times.
The teen said his head hit the table and then he left the classroom, walking downstairs where he began to feel dizzy, which is why he called 911.
The victim’s parents said they would be pursuing charges. Cagle was read his Miranda Rights but chose to remain silent, according to police.
He was later transported to Broward’s main jail.
