Opponents for next season set
While the 2024 NFL schedule won’t be released until sometime in May, the Miami Dolphins’ opponents for next season have already been determined.
Aside from the usual home-and-home games against the Dolphins’ three divisional opponents — the Buffalo Bills, New York Jets and New England Patriots — the entire AFC East plays against the entire AFC South and NFC West. Those 14 games were pre-determined by the NFL’s rotating scheduling formula.
The final three Dolphins’ opponents are based on teams that finished in the same position (second) in the AFC West (Las Vegas Raiders), AFC North (Cleveland Browns) and NFC North (Green Bay Packers). Miami will host the Raiders and visit the Browns and Packers.
By finishing second in the AFC East, the Dolphins avoided having to face division champion Baltimore Ravens, Kansas City Chiefs and Detroit Lions next season.
The Dolphins, who played nine home games this season (7-2) and eight road games (4-4), will play eight home games and nine on the road next season.
Dates and times for all matchups will be announced in May.
The Dolphins missed out on a chance at their first AFC East title in 15 years and to be at home for at least the first two rounds of the playoffs with a loss to Buffalo at Hard Rock Stadium in the regular-season finale on Jan. 7. Miami, which held a three-game lead in the division with five weeks remaining, ended the season 11-7 after losing at Kansas City in the playoffs last week, its fourth loss in six games.
