The Badgers are hosting the second round of the NCAA Tournament on Friday.
The Wisconsin Badgers kicked off their 2023 NCAA Tournament with a 3-0 sweep over the Jackson State Tigers at the UW Field House on Thursday, winning 25-18, 25-9, 25-18 in three sets.
With the win, the Badgers, who earned the No. 3 overall seed and a No. 1 regional seed on Selection Sunday, will face off against the Miami Hurricanes, who upset eighth-seeded Northern Iowa 3-1 on Thursday.
It was a pretty dominant win for the Badgers against Jackson State, as Wisconsin hit .488 percent, including 0.593 percent over the last two sets after finding a groove.
Sarah Franklin led the way with 12 kills, while Carter Booth had eight blocks on the day for the Badgers.
Now standing at 27-3, the Badgers will face a Miami squad that sits at 18-11, including 10-8 in conference play.
Miami entered the tournament on a two-match losing streak, getting swept by Pittsburgh before losing to Boston College 3-2.
They were, however, able to upset Northern Iowa at the UW Field House on Thursday, winning 25-23, 25-19, 20-25, 25-20.
The winner of Friday’s game will face the winner of No. 5 Penn State versus No. 4 Kansas. Will it be the Badgers or can Miami get a major upset?
