Driver loses control as car slams into North Miami nail salon

MIAMI — Repairs are underway at the Nail Bar at NW 119th Street and 7th Avenue after a wild scene.  

Surveillance video shows as a car turns into a parking spot and then crashes right through the store front window. 

Dernest Cesar was just steps away.

“We watched the car kind of stopped on the speed bump then it just jerked in and the guy kept his foot on the accelerator, I guess the guy didn’t know what pedal he was pressing on,” Cesar said. 

Myriam was in the very first chair when the car crashed in.  “I fell asleep while the guy was working on my feet and I woke up with a scream and the hit.  I woke up and the car was driving straight to us,” she recalled. 

“When he hit the glass,  everything came forward so everybody started screaming but he kept hitting the, still hitting the accelerator trying to go forward but everything kind of stopped him,” Myriam said.

Police tell us it appears the driver was trying to park when he hit the gas by mistake. Myriam said after the crash there was a moment of panic. 

“We thought it was going to explode so everybody yelled ‘Move, move, move!’  But I was the person in front, the front seat in the pedicure seat and I couldn’t move there was so much glass and I didn’t have any shoes on my foot,” she said. 

Myriam suffered a minor injury to her leg.  She said the driver appeared disoriented after the crash. 

“He was in shock. He was shocked. He was sitting in the car trying to hit the accelerator. Thank God stuff blocked the car so he couldn’t drive any further,” she said.

North Miami Police say this appears to be an accident. We’re still waiting to find out if the driver will face any citations.
