Women’s Golf Tangles With DII’s Best in Miami
MIAMI LAKES, Fla.—The UIndy women’s golf team spent the last few days in South Florida, placing eighth at the loaded BarryU Women’s Invitational. Held Monday and Tuesday at Shula’s Golf Club in Miami Lakes, Fla., the tournament featured four of the top 10 teams and seven of the top 25 in Golfstat.com’s Division II rankings.
Battling windy conditions, the Greyhounds posted scores of 310-304-304 to finish three strokes back of seventh. 16th-ranked Tampa took the team title, led by medalist Emilie Bjorge (-1).
Freshman Anci Dy paced the Greyhounds with a top-five performance. The Traverse City, Mich., native went 73-74-75 to settle at +6 and take fifth place among the talented field. She has placed in the top 10 in three consecutive events dating back to the fall.
Catharina Graf (+12) improved her score each round to tie for 23rd place among the 77 competitors. Elyse Stasil (+17) capped her tournament with a final-round 73 to snag a share of 35th. Katelyn Skinner (+21) tied for 42nd and Maggie Schaffer (+32) tied for 63rd to round out the team scores. Individual-competitor Ellen Caton (+33) shared 65th.
UP NEXT
The Greyhounds return to the Midwest for the annual NC4K Classic in two weeks. Hosted by Ohio Dominican University, the event is slated for April 4-5 at Jefferson Golf & Country Club in Blacklick, Ohio.
