Dolphins’ Jalen Ramsey set to play vs. Patriots: Report
Miami Dolphins star cornerback Jalen Ramsey is reportedly set to debut for his new team Sunday.
According to an ESPN report Thursday night, the Dolphins plan on activating Ramsey for Sunday’s game against the New England Patriots at Hard Rock Stadium.
Ramsey, however, swiftly denied the report.
“So this is why I just got a crazy amount of texts,” Ramsey posted in response on X. “Well, this is news to me. … (expletive) don’t care about being right, they care about being first in today’s media. That’s sad.”
Ramsey added further context in an ensuing post minutes later.
“Full transparency, there’s a CHANCE that I can play this Sunday, but that decision genuinely isn’t made yet so that is news to me just like it is to y’all,” he wrote. “I have to go through a whole process to feel GREAT enough to play. I won’t play if I feel any less than GREAT.”
Ramsey is in his second week of practice after initially tearing the meniscus in his left knee on July 27 at the team’s second practice of training camp. He returns to game action roughly three months after undergoing a procedure on the knee.
Ramsey, the No. 5 pick in 2016 out of Florida State by the Jacksonville Jaguars, has 19 interceptions, 452 tackles, two sacks and a pair of fumble recoveries in his first seven seasons in the NFL. He has six Pro Bowls and three All-Pro selections in his career.
He was acquired by the Dolphins this past offseason in a trade with the Los Angeles Rams.
Once he returns, the Dolphins are slated to finally bring their elite cornerback combination together if four-time Pro Bowl cornerback Xavien Howard is able to return Sunday from a groin injury that kept him out last Sunday night against the Philadelphia Eagles.
