The game of the week on ABC is an ACC matchup between the No. 25 Miami Hurricanes and the No. 12 North Carolina Tar Heels.
The Hurricanes are coming off an absolutely stunning loss against Georgia Tech and will have to pick themselves up and go on the road to face a Tar Heels team that’s looked like an offensive juggernaut.
North Carolina has looked solid through the first four games of the season, but this matchup will be its first real test. It could also make or break North Carolina’s shot at the conference title.
So, let’s not waste any more time and dive right into my Miami vs. North Carolina betting pick and prediction.

When you look at the Tar Heels’ offense, you start with the quarterback. Drake Maye is supremely talented and has the potential to be a top pick in the upcoming NFL draft.
Well, if Maye wants to cement his draft status, this will be the game to do so.
This matchup will attract plenty of eyes and the Tar Heels are going to need an excellent performance from Maye in order to win. Miami has a significant edge in the trenches and will likely be able to shut down North Carolina’s run game.
However, Maye and his receiving corps will be going up against a Hurricanes secondary that has yet to be tested. It should be noted that Conner Weigman and Texas A&M shredded Miami for 336 yards through the air, and Maye is a big step up in quarterback talent.
The Hurricanes aren’t an elite coverage team — they rank 48th, according to PFF — and Maye should be able to find holes in the secondary.
We’ve been waiting for “The U” to be back for a long time, and while they may not be a national title contender, there’s some talent on the offensive side of the ball.
It all starts with quarterback Tyler Van Dyke.
Since taking over the job two seasons ago, Van Dyke has shown that he has the potential to play on Sundays. Van Dyke is putting together a strong season and ranks 11th in yards per pass and 13th in completion percentage.
He will be a tall task for a North Carolina secondary that ranks ninth in Passing Success Rate and 24th in Coverage rating, per PFF.
However, if the Hurricanes want to have success in this matchup, they’ll need to get the ground game going. Miami will have a big edge up front, as it drastically outranks the Tar Heels in Line Yards (Miami is fourth, North Carolina is 95th).
That means there will be some holes for running backs Henry Parrish Jr. and Donald Chaney Jr., who have combined to average 6.1 yards per carry.

Betting Prediction, Pick
This matchup has the potential to be the most entertaining game of the day, as the field will be littered with talent and each team will have numerous scoring opportunities.
Miami will be able to move the ball on the ground, which will open things up for Van Dyke in the passing game. Then, we should expect Maye and the Tar Heels to punch back.
Additionally, the Tar Heels will be moving up and down the field, as they’re the 27th-fastest team in the country in terms of seconds per play.
Take the over and enjoy the fireworks.
Pick: Over 56.5 or Better
