One of Major League Soccer’s Los Angeles clubs has made an offer to Neymar, according to French media.

The arrival of Lionel Messi at Inter Miami has given MLS a new lease on life. It appeared that the league had largely moved on from the blockbuster transfers of the past which, rightly or wrongly, shaped its image as a retirement league to become a development division for domestic and South American talent.

Messi’s transfer was different because, although advanced in age, he is still one of the world’s best players, having led Argentina to a World Cup triumph just eight months ago. Seeing the incredible rewards that Inter Miami are reaping from signing the 36-year-old, another MLS club is now trying to pull off a truly stunning move.

According to L’Equipe, Neymar has an offer from one of the Los Angeles clubs on the table. Whether it is the LA Galaxy, the league’s traditional behemoth that kickstarted the wave of superstars coming to MLS with the signing of David Beckham, or successful new kids on the block LAFC was not disclosed.

Neymar’s options

Talk about the Brazilian’s potential departure has been reignited in recent days because Paris Saint-Germain are ready to offload their record signing. Indeed, they have apparently informed the player that he is surplus to requirements and the two parties are now actively working on facilitating his exit this summer.

Neymar has been said to favour a return to Barcelona, but recent reports suggest that he would also now be open to making the switch to Saudi Arabia, with Al-Hilal interested in the player, after previously not being keen.

Whether he would be open to a move to MLS is not clear, but it seems highly implausible that someone like Neymar would not enjoy playing – and living – in Los Angeles. Indeed, a move to the US appears the most realistic option given Barcelona’s financial issues and his ostensible reluctance to move to the Saudi Pro League.
