Miami Beach Activist Makes A Big Splash In Commission Race
Marcella Novela, a resident first Miami Beach activist, jumped into the Miami Beach Commission race for Seat 6 three weeks ago. In that brief period of time she has garnered broad community support and raised nearly $150,000 between her campaign account and political committee “Elevate Miami Beach” and now leads the field of candidates in the Commission Seat 6 race.
“I am flattered by the tremendous level of support I have received from residents. My message of Elevating Miami Beach for residents and visitors is resonating across the board,” commented Marcella.
Marcella Novela, a native Floridian, moved to Miami Beach after graduating from college twenty-two years ago. A wife and mother of two accomplished young women, Marcella stated, “ I wanted to raise my family in Miami Beach surrounded by our unique natural beauty and our dynamic community.”
A community activist, Novela is Chair of Art in Public Places for the City of Miami Beach, where she has served for six years. Marcella is an active member of Mayor Dan Gelber’s 41st Development Committee, a board of stakeholders and community leaders asked to re-imagine the central gateway into Miami Beach. Novela served 3 years on the Board of Trustees at the Perez Art Museum Miami, where she also founded and chaired the Young Collectors Council. She also chaired the PAMM Contemporaries for 5 years.
Marcella’s passion for the arts is matched by her desire to ELEVATE Miami Beach and the quality of life for our residents and guests. Marcela understands that prioritizing public safety and improving our infrastructure in our community is essential. Placing the needs of our residents first will allow us to secure Miami Beach as the best place to live, work and play in the world.
Professionally Marcella works as an Art Advisor and Curator. Her company, Art Conductor, a project which unites artists and collectors through unique experiences, was founded in 2013.
