It is never too early to look ahead to the next college football season.

With that in mind, we wanted to take a way too early look at Miami’s five toughest opponents in 2022.

Link: UM’s full 2022 schedule was released in January and you can view it here.

The Miami Hurricanes are looking to improve from a 7-5 2021 showing and in order to do that, UM will have to earn positive results against the better teams on the schedule.

Miami has a good starting point on offense with quarterback Tyler Van Dyke returning after throwing for 2,931 yards with 25 touchdowns and six interceptions  as a second-year freshman. Van Dyke will be working with offensive coordinator Josh Gattis and quarterback coach Frank Ponce.

Defensively, UM needs to make significant improvements after allowing 28 points per game on the season.

The Hurricanes feature intriguing young talent on defense like defensive tackle Leonard Taylor and safeties James Williams and Kamren Kinchens.

Veteran coach Kevin Steele will be Miami’s defensive coordinator in 2022.

UM will begin spring football on March 7th. The Hurricanes will hold their annual spring game on April 16th.

Who are Miami’s five toughest opponents in 2022? Read on for our early thoughts on the schedule in that regard.

Note: These rankings are always fluid, but they are especially fluid during the transfer portal era. A team can change the trajectory of their season with a few key transfer portal additions (Miami included).
