Ed Sheeran Snags Brooklyn Heights Rental
It’s not a “Castle on the Hill,” but Ed Sheeran still managed to score a Brooklyn Heights rental priced for a king.
The 32-year-old British music star rented a 3,200-square-foot unit at Toll Brothers’ Pierhouse, the Wall Street Journal reported. Listing broker Sarah Williams of SOCIETE Real Estate told the New York Post in February the $36,000-a-month rental was the priciest in Brooklyn this year.
The four-bedroom apartment was offered fully furnished. The home also includes a private rooftop terrace with views of Lower Manhattan and the Brooklyn Bridge.
The rental listing emerged in January, but was back off the market roughly two months ago. Sheeran hasn’t made many public real estate moves in the United States, but owns real estate in London and Suffolk, England.
Sheeran is one of the best-selling recording artists in the entire world, moving more than 150 million records so far, a number that will surely surge when he releases his fifth studio album on Friday. Hit songs include “Thinking Out Loud,” “Shape of You” and “Perfect.”
It’s not clear who will be collecting Sheeran’s monthly rent checks — the unit was sold in 2018 for $6 million to an undisclosed buyer.
Toll Brothers City Living developed the property alongside Starwood Capital Group.

The 106-unit condominium building on the waterfront at 90 Furman Street was the borough’s dominant property in the luxury market when sales started in the summer of 2018. At one point, the building boasted the top luxury sales in the borough for five consecutive weeks.
Brooklyn Heights has drawn celebrity buyers like Matt Damon and Amy Schumer, along with interest from real estate players in the luxury space. In September, Goldman Sachs’ asset management arm agreed to buy the 140-unit rental building at 15 Bridge Park Drive from Robert Levine’s RAL Companies and China Vanke for $90 million.
