Women’s ACHA Hockey Drops Series to Miami (Ohio)
Women’s ACHA ice hockey was shutout 3-0 by Miami University (Ohio) in the second game of a two-game series Friday afternoon at the Centene Community Ice Center in Maryland Heights, Missouri.
The Lions had four chances on the power play, but couldn’t get a puck past the Redhawks goaltender. Meanwhile, Miami scored two power play goals in the second period, the first coming in five-on-three fashion and the second late in the frame with the man-advantage. What proved to be the game-winning goal for the Redhawks was scored at even strength at 5:40 of the first.
Miami outshot Lindenwood 37-21 and frustrated the Lions in the second period by allowing zero shots on goal. Emily McDonald stopped 34 of the 37 shots she faced in goal for Lindenwood.
With the loss, the Lions dropped to 5-9-1 on the season. They’re back on home ice for a Women’s Midwest College Hockey (WMCH) game Saturday night. Lindenwood brings a 4-4-1 conference record into the match-up. The opening faceoff is set for 7:50 p.m. at the Centene Community Ice Center.
