Inter Miami want to bring Luis Suarez to MLS
Having previously shown interest in the Atletico Madrid striker, David Beckham‘s MLS franchise Inter Miami appear to be stepping up their chase for Luis Suarez.
Inter Miami missed out on the playoffs last season and are looking to strengthen ahead of the 2022 campaign and Suarez, who has suffered a dip in form this year after helping Atleti win LaLiga Santander in 2020/21, could be tempted by a change of scene.
The recent departure of Blaise Matuidi has opened up a Designated Player spot on Miami’s roster which Suarez could fill. Gonzalo Higuain is the team’s other DP but there has also been talk that he may retire in the near future, doubling Miami’s resolve to strengthen in attack.
According to Pedro Bravo on El Chiringuito, Suarez is interested in the offer from Beckham to play in the United States, but there are other teams after him, including Aston Villa and an Asian club.
The 34-year-old striker may prefer to wait until the end of the Spanish season, however, before making a move. The MLS season begins in late February, so if that is to remain an option, Inter Miami would likely have to enter the season without filling their DP spots, which may depend on how confident they are of convincing Suarez.
