The Irish are struggling on offense
For all the talk during the week about the coaching staff getting a better read on Notre Dame’s roster, the Irish looked virtually the same in the first half against Cal, even with Drew Pyne at quarterback.
Three different offensive linemen were flagged with false starts. Even a receiver picked one up. Other than Chris Tyree’s touches catching up to his ability – his 12 offensive touches in the first half matched his total in the season’s first two games combined – the Irish offense under Tommy Rees flailed as Notre Dame trailed Cal 10-7 at the half.
Notre Dame’s offensive struggles put extreme pressure on Al Golden’s defense, which forced three three-and-outs to open the game. But with the Irish unable to notch their first first down until the second quarter, that effort was wasted.

Hoosiers remain perfect through 3 games
This block put the Hoosiers in a good position to run away with a win, but two tackles for loss by Western Kentucky set them back. On fourth and 18, Charles Campbell came in clutch and sealed the win 33-30 for Indiana with a 51-yard field goal.

Turns out kicking from the 10-yard line when trying to hold a lead is not advised.
Brutal penalties and a lack of Purdue clock management allowed Syracuse to come back. https://t.co/7mpPoFVjrX

Indiana fights back from deficit to force overtime against Western Kentucky
Indiana fought back from an early deficit to score 17 in the fourth quarter and bring its game against Western Kentucky to overtime, tied at 30-30. Hoosier quarterback Connor Bazelak is 33-for-55 for 364 yards and two touchdowns. Western Kentucky had a shot to end it as the clock wound down in the fourth, but the 44-yard field goal attempt from Brayden Narveson was no good. Indiana won the OT toss and will start on defense.
