Luxury Realtor Juawana Colbert Talks “Selling Tampa” Housing Market and New Wine Bar

Luxury realtor and Selling Tampa star, Juawana Colbert, stopped by Hip Hop & Enterprise to talk about homeownership in a shaky economy, how to become a top realtor, and all the tea from the Netflix series.

Before showing off her realtor skills on Netflix, Colbert had already worked her way up in the luxury real estate market. As a businesswoman and proud mother, it wasn’t easy becoming one of the most sought-after realtors with Allure Realty in Tampa, Fla.

With 15 years of experience in economic development under her belt, Colbert combined her business knowledge with real estate for a smooth transition into the luxury market. The decision benefited her current career pursuits greatly garnering her a title as one of the 40 under 40 award recipients in Economic Development in 2017.

Growing up in Los Angeles, she saw her grandfather own and manage several apartment units. That was the foundation for her business acumen and passion for real estate and business growth.

“I was raised and kind of grounded, when he would go pick up his rent checks or there were maintenance requests,” Colbert recalled of her childhood introduction to real estate.

“I think I was exposed to a very young soul that is always within me.”

Always seeking to give back to her community, Colbert has served on several boards, including YMCA, PACE Center for Girls, and East Tampa Business and Civic Association. She has also been on numerous advisory committees. Still, most notably, she was appointed by Mayor Jane Castor to join an advisory committee tasked with providing recommendations for financial stability and economic opportunities for Tampa.

As a realtor, Colbert has garnered over $40 million in sales, with her most notable transaction totaling $8 million for the founders and owners of Mielle Organics in Miami. Her continued education and commitment to each client earned her a spot as a preferred realtor in the Tampa area for modern luxury homes.

Colbert’s success in business and real estate continues to fuel her drive to help others become homeowners. Growing up with firsthand exposure to the benefits of ownership, Colbert thinks real estate has remained one of the most secure ways to financial stability.

“So many millionaires are made from real estate,” Colbert told BLACK ENTERPRISE.

“I think it’s very important if you can to be able to purchase a property, especially if you have children, if you are renting, you can’t pass down that apartment or that house that you’re renting.”

Press play to hear more on Colbert’s career journey, why she’s still encouraging homebuyers to consider Tampa, and if Selling Tampa has been greenlit for a second season.
